"Because I Have Been Given Much" - September 27, 2021
Hello family and friends!
No airplane intro this week because we have reached our destination!!! I have loved my first week in West Virginia! It has been filled with so many ups and downs. If anything, I know that Heavenly Father knows who I am and loves me.
We began last week with a mission wide training meeting with President and Sister Newman. It was for all the new trainees ( that's me) and their companions, which is basically half the mission. Because so many new missionaries came this past transfer if you aren't being trained or training, you are in a leadership position. Kinda crazy! The meeting was great. They went over some mission rules and basically just welcomed us all to the mission! It was a lot of fun and I'm excited to get to know my mission president and his wife better!
As missionaries we get to do a lot of service! On Tuesday and Wednesday we went to the Food Bank and helped package boxes of dry goods. It made me very grateful for what I have and what the Lord has given to me. On Thursday we helped out at a quilt shop! A nice lady named Michelle owns the shop and wow!!! I have never seen so much fabric in my life! She has roomfuls! Sister Mira gave Sister George and I a tour and she just kept opening doors that led to more rooms full of fabric! It was amazing!
We had a few lessons this week. One was with a recent convert! His name is Brandon and we are going back through each lesson to review everything! We reviewed The Restoration with him and focused a little more on the Priesthood Power. He has such strong faith in Christ and is excited about progressing further.
We also met with David! He calls himself David from Ireland because of his heritage. He has a little bit of an Irish accent and every once in a while you can hear it! He is a lot of fun to talk with because he likes to talk. Although, this can be difficult sometimes because we never have tons of time to teach him. He has been coming to church though because his church is under construction. Please keep him in your prayers!
Thursday afternoon we visited a sweet couple in the ward. Their names are the Sadlers. They live way out on a hill top in West Virginia in a home built entirely from wood and by Brother Sadler. It was so amazing to see these people who don't have much but are some of the happiest people I have ever met! Sister Sadler gave each of us a HUGE hug when we came up to the door. Their love for God and Jesus Christ is very evident and it makes them shine. As we drove away I felt so grateful for all that I have. People often say West Virginia is its own foreign stateside mission which is definitely true. Some of these people have almost nothing but give everything. I love them all so much.
Song of the Week: "Because I Have Been Given Much" On Sunday during Sacrament Meeting I randomly flipped to this Hymn and it fit so well with what I've experienced this week. The first line states,
"Because I have been given much I too must give."
I have been given a lot and I hope I can share that with these people. I would like to challenge everyone this week to see a need in someone else and then serve them. There is so much good that can be done in this world if we all just looked around.
I hope everyone has an amazing week!! Talk to y'all next Monday!!!
