"To the Dreamers" - July 11, 2022
Hey everyone!
It was a bittersweet week here in Beckley. We started another transfer! But, I had to say goodbye to Sister Spaeth and Sister Wilkins. It was so sad!! I miss them so much but they are on to the next great adventure in their lives! They are both home with their families! My new companion is Sister Holt!! She is absolutely amazing!! We have already had a lot of fun, laughing and working hard together!
We had a great lesson with Katie on Wednesday! We talked about tithing and fast offerings with her! She is so amazing! She wanted to know when she could start! For members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, tithing is 10% of our increase. We don't pay anyone in the church, it is all volunteer work! We believe the 10% we pay is the Lord's money. It goes to the church to help pay for meetinghouses, temples, copies of the Book of Mormon, and anything else the church may need! Katie was so excited about it all!! She is the best! And she came to church yesterday! Her baptism is on July 23rd, next Saturday!! Please, please, please keep her in your prayers!
Thursday we drove up to Charleston and dropped off Sister Spaeth and Sister Wilkins. I gave them both big hugs and then drove away with Sister Holt! I love her! We had a great lesson with James and Kayla that evening. We went over the Gospel of Jesus Christ and asked them about baptism. We answered some of their questions and decided to have them pray about the decision and then let us know! They both came to church and Kayla got a priesthood blessing. It was so wonderful!
We also had Krista, Melissa, Shawn, Brayden and Ryan at church! They are doing great! We are excited for them!
After dinner on Friday we were out and about and I had to use the bathroom. There wasn't really a gas station close by so Sister Holt suggested we just knock on someone's door and ask them if I could use their bathroom! We then realized Teresa, a lady we used to teach, lived in the area! So we knocked on her door and she let us in! We then had a very Spirit filled lesson on the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was absolutely amazing. I felt prompted to promise Teresa some pretty big blessings and miracles if she would read the Book of Mormon sincerely each day. It was powerful! One of the best lessons I have had on my mission.
Song of the Week: "To the Dreamers" by for King and Country. I love the verses of this song. Especially when it says, "Keep on, Keeping on, Keeping on." It reminds me a lot of missionary work! We just keep going. Not everyday brings a golden friend to teach. Not everyday is the best day ever. Not everyday is easy. But we keep going. We keep pushing on until we can have moments like that! When we do find a golden friend, have the most amazing day or feel the Spirit strongly during a lesson, then we know it's all worth it! Those are the moments we keep pushing for. I'm so grateful for this opportunity that I have to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Savior and this is His work.
I hope you all have a keeping on week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
