"I Need Thee Every Hour" - July 25, 2022
EVERYONE!
Katie was baptized on Saturday! It was absolutely beautiful. The Spirit was so strong! She asked me to give a short talk on the Gift of the Holy Ghost. It was fun to share some of my thoughts on having the Spirit as your constant guide! She was confirmed on Sunday! Again, the Spirit was there. I have loved the opportunity to help her along this path back to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know They are proud of her.
We had Zone Conference on Tuesday! It was amazing! President and Sister Lindahl are seriously the best. They tried something new this transfer! We did some break out rooms and it was so much fun! We were able to do some role plays and practice our teaching skills! Sister Holt and I did pretty good! I'm so grateful we are companions!!!! One of my most favorite parts of this transfers zone conference was listening to the departing missionaries testimonies. They were incredible. The Spirit filled the whole room! I am so grateful for this chance I have to serve my Savior Jesus Christ as a full-time missionary!
On Thursday we met Jim! He was found by some previous sisters but has never been able to meet! We were contemplating dropping him but decided to stop by one more time. Usually when this happens we just say, "ok we will knock on his door one more time and then drop him." But! Instead, we said a prayer and asked Heavenly Father to direct us. We asked Him to help us discern if Jim was ready for our message, or if we needed to give him more time. And, then, the miracle happened. Jim answered the door on our second knock and immediately said, " oh yes! meet me over here on the porch!" WHAT?! We had an amazing discussion with him and answered the questions he had about the church. He asked what has changed in our church in the past 30 years and Sister Holt and I proudly proclaimed that the doctrine has not changed because God is the same yesterday, today and forever! It was so cool! He asked what he should read from the Book of Mormon if we were to tell him a little section. We told him to read the Book of Mosiah and Moroni 10! Sister Holt asked what it would mean to him if what he read was true. Jim said it would mean the beginning of a new journey for him! And he was excited to see! We are meeting again with him on Thursday!
We met with Misty this week! By inspiration, we asked if she would be baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She pondered for a minute and then said maybe. After leaving she sent us a message and said she did want to be!! Please, please, please pray for her!
Song of the Week: "I Need Thee Every Hour" Hymn 98 in the LDS Hymnbook. We sang this song at Katies baptism. We need Jesus Christ every hour. I have come to see this so much on my mission! As missionaries, we can't do this by ourselves. This is the Lords work so we need Him in it! I can be a very independent person but not as a missionary. I need to rely on the Lord, always, so that I can do what He needs me to do.
I hope everyone has a beautiful week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
