"Stronger" - May 16, 2022

Hello family and friends!

It has been quite a week here in Beckley.

We had planned to go to service at 10 am Tuesday morning. As we were pulling out our calendar alarms went off! We had forgotten we had a mission-wide training that morning! We called Sister D, who we do service for, and canceled it for the day. We are glad our alarms went off because the training was amazing! It was all about how to better our teaching! 

We met up with our friend Brandi that afternoon. We met at a cute little restaurant. While we were talking a lady sitting at the table next to us interrupted and asked if she could give some thoughts, too! We talked about religion for a little while and my companion and I were able to share the Book of Mormon with her and a pamphlet on the Restoration! It was so cool! We all have the same basic beliefs! There are more similarities than differences!

That evening we had a lesson with Keishod! Oh it was so awesome!! We talked about the Word of Wisdom, a commandment from God given through the prophet Joseph Smith. He agreed with it all and... is already keeping it!!! For those that don't know, the Word of Wisdom is not doing drugs, drinking alcohol, chewing tobacco, smoking, vaping, or drinking coffee and tea. It can help us stay safe from harmful substances. Most people in West Virginia smoke and drink coffee, so, to have Keishod say he doesn't do any of those things is so big!!! It means that one of the biggest hurdles we usually have to help our friends get over isn't a hurdle for Keishod! We had lessons planned later this with him but he had to cancel them due to unexpected things happening. We are excited for him!!

On Wednesday we had an amazing lesson with Melissa and Krista! We went over The Plan of Salvation. The Spirit was so strong during that lesson! Oh it was amazing! We invited them to come to church again but some complications came up so they weren't able to join us. But next week, for sure! We are meeting with them this week! Oh we can't wait!!!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to listen to our prophet's voice. He gave an amazing talk on remembering who we are and where we are going. His wife also spoke and talked about becoming holy, like Christ. I would like to invite you all to listen to these two talks. They will inspire and uplift you! They will give you a new perspective of life. I know that they have for mine and it's been less than 24 hours! 

Song of the Week: "Stronger" Nashville Tribute Band. I love this song! I always think of my own testimony of the scriptures as I sing along to it! The Book of Mormon is an amazing tool! It provides us with additional light and truth, things that are missing from the Bible. The Bible is so wonderful. It helps us see how we can become more like Christ. As I have used these two tools in my missionary teaching it has made a difference in the Spirit that is felt. It is good to testify but to use the scriptures as you do makes it so much better! I am so grateful God has given them to us!

 Oh hello wonderful family and friends! Welcome to another week in the life of a missionary here in Barboursville, West Virginia. This week was full of cold weather, tracting and miracles! Let's jump in! The most amazing thing happened on Saturday night! We were inviting as many people as we could to attend church with us the next day. We messaged David, not really thinking about him coming to church even though we were trying to invite lots of people. We asked how he had been and he said he had been feeling a little down the past few days. "Fill the World with Love" - Mark 4:39 - March 6, 2023

  Hello family and friends!!  Another amazing week here in Roanoke! We had exchanges with Martinsville 1, Sister Brown and Sister Judson, from Tuesday-Wednesday! I was with Sister Brown in Martinsville! So many cool miracles! We met a lady who knows some members in the Roanoke ward! That was pretty cool! She said we could stop by anytime! Later that day we had an amazing lesson with a part member family! We shared the message of the Restoration and at the end invited the dad to be baptized. The Spirit was so strong!! He said no because he just isn't ready yet. The Sisters in Martinsville will co tinue helping him prepare!! Last week the Sisters had invited the family to day family prayer each day. We got to listen as they told us about how doing such a simple act changed each day and ultimately the week!! Prayer has power!! Good things are happening in the Sisters area!! "Born on Christmas Day" - November 29, 2021

 Family and friends, hello! It has been quite an exciting week! We had exchanges on Tuesday with the Sister Training Leaders and there were SO MANY MIRACLES! Wow!! I went to Ashland, Kentucky with Sister Walker. We began with doing some service at a clothes store. From there we drove to some recent referrals homes and knocked on their doors. We gave a Plan of Salvation pamphlet to one of them! The last one we tried to visit didn't live at the address listed so we knocked on some of the neighbors doors! We had a wonderful conversation with a lady who is friends with people who attend the Ashland ward! She accepted a Book of Mormon so hopefully something comes of it! This neighborhood was also right along the Ohio River! It was beautiful!! That evening we were calling a few other referrals and two of them who haven't been very responsive in the past answered!
