"Line Upon Line" - May 2, 2022
Welcome everyone to this week's email!
Oh what a week!
Tuesday and Wednesday were low days here in Beckley. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. It's kinda funny because for missionaries Monday is our "day off." That's when we do our laundry, grocery shopping and things like that. So, Tuesday can sometimes feel like a Monday! Well, that's how this weeks Tuesday and Wednesday felt. So, Thursday morning I decided it needed to change. Our circumstances may not change but our attitudes sure can! This made Thursday so much better!! And the rest of the week.
Thursday was great, as I said. We worked on our zone facebook page for a bit and went out knocking. We met some nice people. We had a wonderful lesson with a family in the ward and then did lots of calling! In all honesty, it was a very typical missionary day. BUT because we had a better attitude it was a great typical day!!
We had exchanges with the Charleston Sisters on Friday! After district council, Sister Haynes came to Beckley with me! Sister Wilkins went to Charleston with Sister Evans. It was so wonderful! We had a blast. One of the highlights was having a lesson with our friend Keishod. Sister Haynes is an amazing teacher. We shared the Introduction to the Book of Mormon with him and started reading 1 Nephi 1. The Spirit was so strong! We invited him to keep reading the chapter! We have another lesson with him tomorrow! We are excited! Also, funny story - we had pizza for lunch and Sister Haynes put the box outside in the trash can. Around 9 pm we heard rustling outside next to the trash can and then it fell over!! We looked out the window just as a racoon was running away from it! Haha! We had a racoon in our trash can. Dont worry, all is good now!! But it was an exciting experience!
After exchanging back on Saturday, Sister Wilkins and I had a very Spirit led day. Our lesson fell through but it just meant that our day was freed up for other things! We felt prompted to visit our friend Misty but on the way there felt prompted to stop by our friend Andrews apartment. He wasn't there so we called and found out he was at a different apartment. We went and visited him there and read 3 Nephi 17 with him. It was perfect because he had recently hurt his hand so the chapter related perfectly to him! 3 Nephi 17 is when Christ heals the people in the America's and then blesses the little children. It is one of my favorite parts of the Book of Mormon and I would invite you all to read it!
After our lesson with Andrew we visited our friend Curtis. We haven't visited him in a while because he is pretty busy with other things. We had a great lesson with him and afterwards knocked a few of the doors around him. We then felt prompted to go visit Misty, again.
It was an absolutely amazing lesson with her. Before starting we asked if her sons would like to join us. Malachi was asleep but Domonick said he would join! We shared the introduction of the Book of Mormon and the beginning of 1 Nephi 1. Again, the Spirit was present as we testified of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. We invited them to also finish the chapter. Domonick seemed excited about it! We are meeting with them on Tuesday this week!!! We are excited.
Song of the Week: "Line Upon Line" Saturdays Warrior 1989. Knowledge doesn't come all at once, especially in the Gospel. We have to take one step at a time and slowly we move forward. "It's like watching the stars appear at night. First, one little light shines over there in the western sky... until finally... a whole wonderful endless universe that began with just one little star." It doesn't all come at once. Overtime we build upon the knowledge we have. One day it will all be ours but for now we learn what we can. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father is there and that He knows it all. He can help us as we understand what we are to do here on earth.
I hope everyone has a beautiful week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
