Send Me - Monday April 25, 2022
Oh, hello, hello, everyone!
It was quite a lovely week here in Beckley!
We have three new friends that we are teaching!
Teresa is a very sweet lady. We stopped by her home about a week and a half ago. It wasn't a good time to meet but we scheduled a time to come back! On Monday we stopped by and shared part of the Restoration and part of the Plan of Salvation lessons with her! It was so wonderful. As she answered the questions we asked her she began to cry. We know she was feeling the Spirit. We asked her to pray about what we had taught, to find out for herself if it's true. She prayed right then and there! She accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon. We are going by again today to have another lesson!
Melissa is so amazing! She was sorta taught previously by missionaries but they lost contact because the phone number for her wasn't the right one! Well, a few weeks ago she randomly messaged us asking us to come back! We stopped by last Wednesday and taught her the Restoration lesson. She loved it and asked if we had any study materials so she could be ready for our next lesson! We stopped by again on Saturday and taught the Plan of Salvation to her. It was so wonderful! We gave her the pamphlet for our next lesson and set up to come by this Wednesday!
Keishod is so cool! He messaged us out of the blue, this past week. He was taught a while ago and asked if we still do scripture studies with people! We said we did and set up a time to stop by. We had planned for a scripture study but ended up teaching him the Restoration! He really enjoyed it and was very curious about the Book of Mormon. We will be going by on Tuesday this week for another lesson! So cool!!
Also, another awesome thing happened this week!! We received a referral on Saturday, Charles, and decided we would stop by to see him since he lived close to where we would be for the day. When we stopped by he was surprised to see us since he had just submitted the request that morning! We were surprised that he remembered submitting it! Haha! Usually, people don't remember. Charles wanted to attend church with us! We found a ride for him from one of the members. He ended up not coming because he had slept in but it's ok! He will come!
We had a great lesson with Misty! We taught her the Plan of Salvation. She had a few questions but overall said she believed it! We are super excited for her! As a missionary, it is hard to see our friends struggle. We know this gospel can help them so much! So, when they do progress and take a small step closer to God, it is the bestest thing ever!! And that's what happened with Misty. We could see small improvements when we met with her! She is so amazing and I love her so much!
Yesterday, Sister Wilkins and I found out what it feels like to be a walking missionary. We have a limited amount of miles we can use on our car each month. Well, we are almost out of miles, so, to save miles, we walked a few places! It was actually kinda fun! It was a beautiful day and we were able to have some great conversations.
Song of the Week: "Send Me" Youth Album 2022. As a missionary we don't choose where we serve our missions. The Lord calls us through His prophet. I got called to West Virginia! As I have been out here I have done my best to see why God needs me here in West Virginia. It's not where I thought I would go but it is where God needs me, so there has to be a reason why. This week while teaching our friends I felt the Spirit confirm to me that I am here for the people. The people here in West Virginia need me to teach and testify to them. That is why I am here. I'm not perfect, I don't know everything, but the Lord blesses our efforts. The chorus states,
Here am I.
I know I’m not perfect,
But here am I.
Tell me what You need;
You have my heart You have my hands.
I think I’m ready,
So, let me try.
Here am I,
Send me
I am an instrument in His Hands. He needs me here. I will try my best and He will make up the difference.
I hope everyone has a lovely week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
Love,
- Sister Sariah Francis
