"Love One Another" - March 7, 2022

"Alright, everyone. We have landed safely in Beckley, WV. Thank you for flying with us today!"

Yup! I'm in Beckley!!! I absolutely love it! The people are so kind and amazing.

Last Monday we got to go to Huntington with the West family! The Huntington 2 and Marshall Elders all joined us! We went to a place called the Red Caboose. It was a cute little shop! We walked around some of the other outside shops. They had a huge train engine outside the store so we all got on it and took pictures and everything! Afterwards we walked across the street to the Ohio River! It was soooo high!!! But it was also sooo beautiful! I loved it!

On Tuesday I found out I would be transferring to Beckley! It is another social media area in the mission! I'm now in charge of the Charleston Zone Facebook Page instead of the Huntington Zone Page. It's fun being able to do missionary work on social media!!

I said goodbye to most of the people in Barboursville on Sunday. It was very bittersweet. I miss them so much already! We spent Tuesday and Wednesday saying goodbye to some of our friends and other people in the ward. It felt weird being the one to say goodbye because I was there for so long!!!

Thursday eventually came and we packed up the car with my suitcases and drove to Charleston. I met my new companion Sister Smith!!! She is so amazing! She just finished her training so this is her third transfer! It is so much fun! I also got to see Sister Brady, my MTC comp!!!!!!! We haven't seen each other in 6 months!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!! It was a very joyful reunion!!!! But, eventually the time came to say goodbye. It was bittersweet saying goodbye to Sister Humphries and Sister Morales. They were amazing companions and I'm going to miss them very much! But, we will see each other again someday!!! I'm especially grateful I had the chance to train Sister Morales. She is an amazing missionary!

Beckley is amazing!!!! I love it! We had dinner with a few members on Friday and Saturday! They are so kind!!! On Sunday I was able to meet the ward! Sister McCarthy, a family friend, came and gave me a huge hug!!! It was so nice seeing a familiar face!!! After church we had the opportunity to attend the baptism of one of the primary kids who just turned 8! She is so sweet! Seeing her go down into the water and then come up again was a tender moment. It reminded me of my own baptism when I turned 8!

We had district council on Friday in a furniture store! It was so crazy! The district is pretty spread out and the furniture store is a more central location than the Beckley ward church building is. The furniture store is also owned by some members so they let us use it for a few hours on Fridays. It isn't very big but it is a lot of fun!!! We have the Charleston East sisters, the Oak Hill Elders and us! Sister Johansen, Sister Evans, Elder Allred, Elder Vermason and Elder Johnson! It is going to be a great transfer!!!

Song of the Week: "Love One Another" Children's Songbook Page 136. I've thought a lot about loving others lately. As I have moved areas I have had to adjust to new people. But through it all I have felt a great love for everyone I have met. People aren't put into your life by accident. I know that being here in Beckley is where I need to be. This song is a great reminder of Jesus Christ's 2 great commandments. "Love the Lord thy God" and "Love thy neighbor as thyself." When we love others we experience just a glimpse of the love our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ feel for us. They love us each completely! I'm so grateful I get to share this love with those who may not understand it! That is one of the greatest parts of being a missionary!

Have a lovely week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
