"Consider the Lilies" - March 14, 2022
Hello everyone!
On Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we met with our friend Curtis! He is so awesome! His baptism is scheduled for next Wednesday but Sister Smith and I are planning to move it back. He is working on not smoking and vaping. He says he will stop but always has an excuse of why he can't. But! We keep praying for him! He has a strong desire to be baptized because he knows how important it is. Hopefully, that desire is what will help him see the importance of not smoking and vaping and following God's Commandment of the Word of Wisdom.
We had a great lesson with our friend Misty on Thursday! She has had a hard life. When we came up to her door she was so relieved to see us! She can feel a difference when we are there which is so incredible to hear someone say! It reminds me of how important this work is! People can see a difference in us! We were able to read Mosiah 27 with Misty and talk about how Alma the Younger had a change of heart. We also were able to talk about our Premortal life, and how we all lived with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ before coming to earth. We also talked about how were were spirits there and did not yet have our mortal bodies. At one point in the lesson she had a question about forgiveness. I was able to testify to her that we do have a spirit inside us that knows Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Our spirit can remember even if our mortal selves can't. Because we each have a spirit within us we can love and forgive those who may have hurt us the most. Sister Smith and I both testified to her that Jesus Christ is there reaching out to her. He and Heavenly Father love her very much.
It was such a beautiful warm week! Oh it was lovely! But!!! On Saturday it SNOWED! Yes! It Snowed!!! Friday was a warm 60 degree day and on Saturday it was like 17 degrees! And there was snow on the ground! The roads were icy and the wind chill made it feel like 0 degrees outside, so Sister Smith and I stayed inside. We had lots of lessons planned! Some were just over the phone but others were going to be in person. We ended up changing them all to be over the phone. However, of the 8 lessons we had planned only 1 actually happened!!! And it was the last lesson of the day! We were a little discouraged because we had called each person but no one answered. Because of this we got to do a lot of Facebook Finding and calls to other people!! It turned out to be a great day even though most of our lessons fell through.
Ok. I realized I haven't really shared any crazy stories from my mission so I thought I would. Sister Smith told me that a few weeks ago a random guy had knocked on the apartment door and asked if he could have some water from the outside hose. Thinking it was just a one time thing her and her companion said yes. Well, he came back a few other times and took water without asking. Sister Smith said it hadn't happened in a while, though, so it was probably all ok. Well! A few days ago a guy knocked on our door but this time asked if he could use the power outlet outside. Again, thinking it was only for a little bit, we said yes. Well, the next day his cord was still plugged in. As we were leaving that morning, one of our neighbors came over and asked why we were letting that guy, who turned out to be our other neighbor, use our power. He said the guy had asked other neighbors if he could use their power and water because he doesn't have any, but the reason he doesn't have any is because he doesn't pay his bills. That made us a little nervous so we unplugged the cord and went about with our day. The guy didn't plug the cord back in until Saturday. Because of the snow the cord was hidden a little bit. We unplugged it again and then called the landlord about the situation. He said the guy should not be using our power and everything. Thankfully our landlord is also this guys landlord! So, he went over and talked to him about it all and now that guy is no longer using our water and power!! And that is my story for everyone! Missions are pretty crazy and exciting!! Haha!!
Song of the Week: "Consider the Lilies" Sung by the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. During my scripture study this week I read in the Book of Mormon when Christ comes to the Americas to visit the people there. In 3 Nephi 13:28 it says, "Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin;" Later on in verse 34 Christ says, "Take therefore no thought for the morrow, for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient is the day unto the evil thereof." I love these verses so much! We should not be worried about what will happen in the future. Heavenly Father is aware of us. If we are being obedient to His commandments He will provide for our needs. I am so grateful I have the opportunity to be a missionary at this time. I love this work and I love serving my Savior Jesus Christ!
Have a great week everyone! Talk to y'all next Monday!

Sister Smith caught a spider in our apartment!!! Yuck!!!! It was big and brown! Don't worry, we took it outside and she squished it. And then we sprayed the apartment, haha!
