"Shoulders" - February 28, 2022
"Welcome aboard everyone! Thank you for flying with us today. Our flight from Barboursville will be leaving shortly. Please fasten your seatbelts and prepare for take off!"
It was quite a week! We had interviews with President Newman on Wednesday. It was wonderful! I know that he was called by God to be here and I am grateful that he is my mission president. We then had exchanges with the Sister Training Leaders! Sister Humphries and I went to Ashland, KY with Sister Sheffield and Sister Morales stayed in Barboursville, WV with Sister Ingram! It was a great day in Kentucky! We had lunch with two sweet ladies from their ward and had many lessons! I loved it! We also got to go to KFC! It was so cool, haha! Going to Kentucky Fried Chicken in Kentucky! We exchanged back on Thursday morning and I was so excited to see Sister Morales again! Exchanges are nice but I love my companions so much and love being able to serve with them!
We had our last District Council as a district this past Thursday. It was very bitter sweet. We got to teach the lesson! We talked about family history and why it is so important. We need to do all we can to help our ancestors receive their temple ordinances. It was a great lesson and the Spirit was present. We had district lunch at Cook Out! It is such a fun little restaurant!
On Saturday I said goodbye to Susan. It was so sad! I have come to love the people here so much and I am going to miss them all! After church on Sunday I said goodbye to all the ward members. They are the best!!! I got super lucky being able to serve here in Barboursville as my first area!
So, our friends. Casey is doing great! Sister Morales and Sister Ingram had a lesson with Casey on Wednesday! He said he has been reading and praying and is beginning to feel lighter! Yay!!! I know that the Book of Mormon is true and it can help people, if they will read it with real intent. I know that this is whats happening for Casey. He has a desire to know and is putting his desire into action. "...Faith, if it hath not works, is dead,..." (James 2:17). Casey is adding works to his faith! We are super excited to see him progress! Please continue praying for him!
We had a lesson set up with Eva and Landon on Wednesday but they had to cancel. We set a time for this Wednesday! We are excited to go back and teach them!
Paul is doing great. He has been reading from the Book of Mormon, as far as we know. But, we had a lesson set up for yesterday and when we went over he wasn't home. We knocked twice and left a sticky note on his door. Hopefully we can meet with him again soon! He has a strong desire to do God's will and follow Him. It's the best!
Song of the Week: "Shoulders" by for King and Country. This is one of my most favorite songs! For me, this song talks about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He carries it all on His Shoulders. The song talks about how we "don't have to see to believe" that Christ is carrying it all for us. During interviews with President Newman he asked me to share my testimony of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and repentance. I know Christ forgives us. He has paid the price for us and He wants us to use His Gift. After interviews I felt so happy! The Spirit testified to me of the power of the Atonement in people's lives. I have seen this power in my own life. I know Heavenly Father lives. I know Jesus Christ lives. I know we can all return to live with them again!
Have a wonderful week, everyone!!! Talk to y'all next Monday!
