"All Times, All Things, All Places" - Monday, January 10, 2022
Hello everyone!
What a week! We had a lot of ups and downs. But hey! The church is still true and Heavenly Father still lives!
We began the week with district p-day! Our district is us, the HU 2 Elders (Elder Oilar and Elder Kelson) and the Zone Leaders (Elder Greenburg and Elder Lillywhite)! We decided to go on a hike! A member of the ward has a huge hill in his backyard, so we hiked up it! It was a lot of fun! And we found 2 rope swings! So we took turns swinging on them. It was a party! After hiking we went to the mall and walked around a little until we found a place to sit down and play games! We played mafia. Elder Greenburg was getting really into it! It was intense! But we all had fun together. We got lunch at the food court and then parted ways. Overall, it was a great p-day and I love my district, especially my companions!
Thursday was a very exciting but sad day. We had district council and talked about how we can help David as he progresses along the covenant path. The Elders gave us some great ideas and we were excited to set up a time to meet with him! We messaged him asking if we could meet with him again. A little later we received a message from David's girlfriend messaging on David's phone. She said a lot of contradictory things to what David has said to us in the past. But overall we are no longer meeting with David because of this. It has been hard letting him go but we know that the Lord has a plan for him. Right now may not be the right time but we know we have made an impact on David's life.
That was the sad part of Thursday. It was exciting because we met with Teisha! We were able to set up another time to meet with her to teach her more of what we believe! We are super excited! Hopefully all goes well! As we drove home from Teisha's it began to snow!!! And oh boy did it snow!!! We got around 6 inches! It was so much fun! Because we don't have a yard we went out and stood in the driveway of our apartment and played a little in the road (We live in a very quiet village, on a very quiet road so there weren't any cars). I wanted to make a snow angel so I laid down in the middle of the road and made one! It was a lot of fun, haha! Life as a missionary!
The roads were pretty icey on Friday and Saturday so we got to walk around Barboursville! We made cookies on Friday and took them to some of our friends and neighbors who were close enough for us to walk to. It was fun doing this kind of service and they were all very happy to have some warm chocolate chip cookies! On Saturday we crossed the train tracks to tract in that half of Barboursville. We had some great conversations with a lot of sweet people! We didn't find anyone who was ready to hear the message of Christ's restored church but we know we gave them a little seed to plant in their hearts.
The young women's president asked us to teach young womens on Sunday so we got to join them! It was so fun to be back in young womens. We taught about God's creations and how wonderful they are. We invited the girls to think of a way they can better care for God's creations this year. It was a great lesson!
Song of the Week: "All Times, All Things, All Places" EFY song by Chad Neth. I have thought a lot about when I received my call to serve here in the West Virginia, Charleston Mission. I opened my call with my family by the Provo Utah Temple. It was a special experience and one I had been waiting for for years. I felt shocked, excited, and overcome with joy when I read I would be coming here. I was called to teach this message in the English Language, which has been a huge blessing. I haven't had to learn a new language! I just have to open my mouth and testify of Christ. I began my mission at the earliest possible time, the day after I turned 19! With all of these things I know my Savior lives and knows me. I know that what I have been called to do is His work. As a missionary I wear a name badge that says "'Sister Francis' The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints." I represent Jesus Christ. I have a testimony of Him. If anyone who reads these emails wants to learn more about what I do please email me! I would love to help you understand what I am doing. If anyone has questions please send them to me! I want to help you come closer to Christ.
Have a wonderful week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
