"Like a Lighthouse" - December 6, 2021
Wow! What a week!
I will begin with the sad news. We have transfers this week and Sister George will be transferring to a new area! It will be sad to say goodbye. She has been such an amazing trainer and I have learned sooo much from her!! I'm going to miss her a lot. But the Lord needs her somewhere else now!
The exciting news is that I will be in a trio once again here in Barboursville! I am super excited!! One of the missionaries coming is already here in the mission and the other one will be from the MTC! A brand new missionary!! Sunday night President Newman called and asked me to be a trainer next transfer! So, it will be a very exciting next few weeks! I am very nervous about it but I know that the Lord is watching over me and He will be right beside me as I help train another of His servants in this incredible work!
Last Monday we got a call from Jack. He said he decided to stay with his religion. He was glad he came to church but doesn't want to learn more about the gospel. It was really sad to hear that all from him. And because of that we are kinda back to where we were a few weeks ago. We aren't really teaching anyone that is progressing and haven't found any new people in a while.
David is doing well. We met with him on Wednesday and he told us he had a cup of coffee a few days ago. He was doing so good for such a long time!! He came to church yesterday and really enjoyed it. We are meeting with him again on Wednesday and will re-evaluate his baptismal date. I know that God is a God of Miracles and that somehow in some way David will be baptized one day.
We had a wonderful visit with the Hickmans again this week! Sister Hickman is so sweet! She made us some delicious spaghetti!! For desert she had made apple cinnamon bread and carrot cake! It was so yummy! We had a great time visiting with them and shared a spiritual thought. We had planned to start teaching her husband who isn't a member but people in West Virginia like to talk! So we did the best with the time we had. I love them both so much! So many amazing people here in West Virginia!
On Saturday we had another huge Zone Church Blitz. We called a lot of our friends and had some amazing conversations with them! We called Chelsea, a girl we met a few weeks ago at the park, and talked for a long time! We ended up inviting her and her family to the ward Christmas Dinner! We then texted our friend Teisha and about 30 minutes later she responded and said she would try to come!! It was so exciting! Sadly, she ended up not coming on Sunday but we will keep praying for her!
Song of the Week: "Like a Lighthouse" by Michael Webb. This song has meant a lot to me for about a year now. A year ago I was in Japan with my family. There is a beautiful lighthouse not far from where they live called Zanpa Lighthouse. I loved going there! Seeing the waves crash up against the cliffs was so exciting! We got to go up to the top, up 99 steps, and look out over everything. How Beautiful!!! Lighthouses shine huge lights out over the water to warn ships of the cliffs and rocks in the area. They guide and direct seaman in the right direction. This song talks about how Christ is our Lighthouse. He is shining His light for all of us, guiding us safely home. This week has been hard, especially with learning that I will be training next transfer but I know that Christ's Light will be there to guide me.
Have an epic week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
