November 1, 2021 - "Families Can Be Together Forever"
Hello everyone!
What a week. We will start with the sad news. On Thursday we had transfers and Sister Mira went home. She completed her mission! We drove to Charleston around 9:30 and arrived around 10:30. We said hi to the other missionaries we knew and prolonged saying goodbye to Sister Mira for as long as possible! But, alas, the goodbye did have to come at some point. It was a very bitter sweet moment. She will be greatly missed but Sister George and I have had an incredible last few days!
So, on Saturday we had a lesson fall through. We decided to go street contacting at the Milton Flea Market. We decided we would try to invite 10 people to church and hand out 1 Book of Mormon. On the way there I wrote "Join us this Sunday @ 11 am" on the back of 10 pass along cards, along with our number and the address for the church. When we arrived we said a prayer asking Heavenly Father to help us achieve our goal. Then we headed out! Over the course of 3 hours we handed out all 10 cards AND a Book of Mormon!!! Oh my goodness, it was absolutely amazing! We talked to some really nice people. One lady, Kelly, was really interested in what we were doing. We got to explain a lot about our missions and it led into discussing the Book of Mormon. She was surprised to hear it testifies of Jesus Christ, just like the Bible. She accepted a copy of the Book and hopefully will read it. As Sister George and I got back in the car we couldn't help but feel so happy! We said a prayer thanking Heavenly Father for helping us accomplish our goal. We then went and ate lunch at Bob Evans to celebrate!
Those were the biggest things that happened this week. On Wednesday, we had a ward Trunk or Treat party! My companions and I did a group costume with the Elders! Elder Stratford was Pac Man and the rest of us were the ghosts. It was a lot of fun to dress up even though we were just wearing sweatshirts, haha.
We had a great lesson with Susan on Friday. I taught about the Divine Mission of Jesus Christ and having Faith in Him. As we were discussing she said, "To me, faith is sometimes having to take a leap into the darkness. You have to trust that God will help you and then you take a step." As she said that I thought to myself how that is what she needs to do. She needs to take a leap of faith and trust that what we are teaching her is true. I know that someday she will see the truthfulness of the message we share.
Song of the Week: "Families Can Be Together Forever" I am so grateful that I can be with my family for forever. I love them so much! I am grateful for Temples and the sacred ordinances that take place inside of them. I am grateful for the Prophet Elijah and the Sealing Power that he restored back to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Only through this Power can we truly be with those we love. I love this gospel so much and the joy it has brought to my life.
Have a wonderful week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
-Sister Francis
