"Highs and Lows" - October 11, 2021
Hello y'all!!
Wow! What a week!! It was full of miracles and so many amazing experiences!!
On Tuesday we had a lesson with David! We taught him the Plan of Salvation and then invited him to pray about baptism! Oh my goodness it was honestly a little scary.... I thought he would say no or get mad at us but I stead he said he would! The rest of the week my companions and I were praying he would receive his answer and have the faith to act. On Sunday guess who walked in?! David!! He looked so happy and said on Saturday he had prayed and God had told him it was time to change. So he won't be going back to his church! He wants to just come to ours for a while! He has been going to his church for the past 16 years but said that God had told him he needed to change so he won't be going anymore! David talked about how at his church it was all just fake and preppy and everyone thinks they're better than everyone else. He said he didn't like that but at ours everyone was so kind and wanted him there! He said he is still praying about baptism but he will let us know when he receives an answer. We have a lesson with him tomorrow!
On Friday we went over to the Custers home. Brother Custer is a member but Sister Custer isn't. We had a delicious dinner with them. Sister Custer is letting me practice teaching the lessons to her so after dinner I "practiced" teaching the Restoration. The Spirit was so powerful during the lesson! I hope she could feel it. Brother Custer has been trying to get her to join the church but for some reason she won't. After leaving their house my companions and I talked about the lesson and decided that she knows that the church is true. I think I said it in a past email but she has read the Book of Mormon and comes to church each week with Brother Custer. We concluded that she is a little scared to admit it is true, though. It would change a lot in her life. Please pray for her this week!
We met with Mary and Willis on Saturday! Mary has such strong faith! After our lesson we asked them to pray about it and she very enthusiastically said, "YES!" Willis is a different story. He has a lot of questions. Mostly about Joseph Smith and the Priesthood. We did our best to explain it all to him. He is very set in his ways but we still asked him to pray about what we had taught him. Hopefully he will but if not it's ok. He does have his agency.
Saturday was also the Milton Pumpkin Festival!! It is a huge event here. They have pumpkin flavored ice cream that everyone says is delicious!! Sadly, my companions and I didn't get any because we were too busy looking at all the little booths! It was so much fun!! We say a cute little Webelo Scout selling popcorn! It reminded me of when my older brothers would set up stands outside of gas stations and sell their popcorn! So many fun memories!!
We visited a nice lady from the ward yesterday! She used to wrestle alligators and crocodiles!! Isn't that crazy?! She loves animals and used to own a cheetah. She worked at a snake farm and helped with other animals too! She is just amazing and you wouldn't know she had done all this unless you asked her! It was so much fun visiting with her. The people here are the best!
Song of the Week: "Highs and Lows" by Hillsong Young and Free. This is one of my new favorite songs! My companion, Sister George, showed it to me. I love this song so much! In the second verse it states,
"Tell me where could I run
From Your lightWhere could I hide?Hemmed within Your precious thoughtsThere's no hiding from Your love"We can't run from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ's love for us. They are always there. I also really love the third verse. It states,
"Your mercy waits at every end
Like You planned it from the start"
Christ's mercy, or the Atonement of Jesus Christ, is always there for us, just like His love. It was all planned from the start. We would need a Savior and Christ volunteered. Please go listen to this song! It is so good. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will walk with us through our high points and our low ones, too.
I hope everyone has an amazing week! Talk to y'all next Monday!
