"Be Thou My Vision" - October 4, 2021

 Hello everyone!

What a week! So many cool things to talk about!!
On Tuesday we met with David from Ireland! He had read the Restorstion pamphlet and when asked what he'd thought of it he replied, " I believe it's TRUE. All of it." Sister George, Sister Mira and I were a little surprised! He also said he wants to come to church again and stay for classes so he can hear what we talk about. We have another appointment with him this week and will be discussing the Plan of Salvstion. Please pray for him!
On Wednesday, I had my first zone conference! What a wonderful experience! We met at the Stake Center here in huntington which was nice! We didn't have to travel as far as some of the missionaries did. President and Sister Newman talked to us about the Doctrine of Christ. We did a fun activity where we went through all the principles on Preach My Gospel and found a scripture from the Book of Mormon and the Bible that went a long with it! It was so cool to see how the scriptures testify so much of Jesus Christ. The zone leaders and sister training leaders also talked. Their focus was more towards teaching. We did a practice roleplay with another companionship and focused on teaching with a specific principle in mind. It was a lot of fun teaching with Sister George and Sister Mira! They are both so good at bringing the Spirit to the room. After zone conference I finally had my first interview with President Newman!! He gave me some inspired council. I'm so grateful he is my mission president!!
On Friday we met with a sweet old couple, Mary and Willis. After just being with them for a few minutes I already felt so much love for them. They love the Lord and want to follow him. Mary is a little forgetful but she has the sweetest spirit! When we first sat down she reached over and gave me a huge hug! We shared a few scriptures with them and everytime we'd say the word scriptures Mary would light up and ask Willis where her scriptures were. Willis would reply they were on the table but because of her bad eye sight it wasn't worth it to get them. I'm excited to visit them again and continue sharing the light of Christ with them!
Saturday and Sunday were General Conference!!! Sister George, Sister Mira and I went to the church to watch it. It was so good!!! Going in to conference I had forgotten to have a question in mind, so I wasn't expecting much to come from what the speakers would say. However, President Eyrings talk hit me like a fireball. As I listened to his words I realized I did have a question and that it was being answered right in front of me. This question was one I had asked Heavenly Father in my prayers a few days earlier. I thought I had received my answer but as I listened to President Eyrings words my question was answered further. Have faith.
I'm also super excited about all the new temples that President Nelson announced!!! Specifically the one in Cody, Wyoming and the renovation of the Provo Temple! My family lived in Wyoming for a little bit and I used to be on the Temple grounds crew for the Provo Temple! Temples are such beautiful, peaceful places and I am so grateful for the light they can bring into our lives.
Song of the Week: "Be Thou My Vision" This song has been on my mind since last week. It isn't one I was super familiar with until coming out on my mission. In the first verse it states,
"Thou my best thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light"
I love these lines. Christ is the best thought we can have. When we feel scared, nervous, anxious, sad or anything He can bring us peace and light. I know this is true.
I hope you all have a wonderful week! Happy October and talk to y'all next week!
