"Be Still, My Soul" - September 20, 2021

"We have landed in West Virginia. Thank you for flying with us today!"

Hello, hello everyone! I'M IN WEST VIRGINIA! It is soooo crazy and soooo cool!!!

On Wednesday at 4:30 AM Sister Brady and I were bussed with other missionaries to the airport! Our flight was delayed but soon we were on our way! After a short layover in Atlanta we flew to West Virginia! When we arrived it was wet, cloudy, and rainy. But also soooooo green! It was beautiful! We spent the night in a hotel because there were so many new missionaries. The next morning we went to the Charleston church building and had a intro to the mission! Then we met our companions/trainers!!! My trainer is Sister George from Salt Lake City! She is the best!!! She has been out about 8 months. We have a third sister in our companionship named Sister Mira! She is from Alaska and is going home at the end of this transfer. It has been so much fun with all of them!

My first area is Barboursville! It is such a cute little place!! It is so small it is considered a village. I have met so many amazing people and have had quite a ride already! After arriving at our apartment Sister Mira and Sister George began talking about how they'd each skinned a racoon before. I was so confused!! They then proceeded to pull 2 frozen squirrels out of the freezer! (They are both in sealed bags but it is pretty weird). I had no words for them. It was a great intro to West Virginia and I have been very cautious about not eating anything that has been in the freezer.

My first few days here have been busy. We have done a lot of studying and a lot of street contacting. On Saturday we went to a super cute flew market! We did some street contacting and met a nice old man who said he was a prophet. My companions and I kinda just nodded and smiled. He did most of the talking but our conversation ended with us giving him our number and inviting him to do a bible study with us. He hasn't called yet and probably won't but it was a nice interaction! We met another nice man selling coins. After a short conversation with him we gave him a Restoration pamphlet and our number. He also hasn't called but it was cool to see the work in action!!

On Sunday we had a really nice meal at the ward mission leaders home and then I gave the lesson! It was my first one!! It was more of a spiritual thought but hey! I led it! It was some great practice. I shared the scripture Ether 12:41. We talked about seeking Jesus, as the scripture says, in our own lives and helping others find Him as well. Through seeking Jesus in our lives we can find who we are supposed to be and can understand more of what Heavenly Father wants us to do here on earth. I want to challenge you all this week to seek Jesus. See how He is in your life and try to share that with someone else.

Song of the Week: Wow. I didn't think coming out to West Virginia would be as hard as it was. Not physically but mentally. I never have gotten homesick, for the most part, but flying here was super hard. On Sunday on our way to church Sister George turned on "Be Still, My Soul" (version sung by David Archuleta). It was what I needed. It has been quite and adjustment being here but I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ know who I am and are there to help me. Through the Holy Ghost they can calm my fears and comfort my soul.

I hope everyone has an amazing week!!! Talk to y'all next Monday!!
