"May I Serve Thee" - August 24, 2021
"Hello everyone and welcome aboard flight 823 with service to The Provo Missionary Training Center. We have an 8 day flight planned for you all with little to no turbulence. We will be taking off momentarily so for now please sit back and wait until take-off."
Hello friends and family!!!
I thought it would be fun to begin with an airplane intro. As some of you may know I want to be a pilot but who knows what the future will bring! Anyway! Thanks for joining me on this journey and I hope you enjoy!
What a crazy few days it has been! On Sunday I gave my farewell talk and was then set apart by my dad/district president as a full-time missionary! It was incredible! Due to my family living in Japan we spent the night at my grandparents' home. Monday morning, bright and early, my family dropped me off at the home/virtual Missionary Training Center (MTC). They then began the long journey back to their island home.
I'm doing my home MTC at my aunt and uncle's home! My cousin, Parker, is also starting the MTC so we will be doing it together! He will be serving in the Scotland/Ireland Mission! I'm so grateful that I get to go through all of this with him! I know it's one way that God is blessing me and showing me that He knows who I am.
So! My first day of home/virtual MTC was so good!!! I met my district and my companion, Sister Brady from Utah! The main focus for our lessons was discussing our purpose as missionaries. We are representatives of the Lord Jesus Christ and are helping others come unto Him! I'm so excited I get to do this for 18 whole months! And that I get to do it in West Virginia! What an adventure!
The Song of the Week for this week was "May I Serve Thee." I have wanted to serve a mission for as long as I can remember. Satan has been working hard against me these past few days trying to do everything in his power to stop me. But this song brought me strength. The song closes with these two lines:
"May I serve Thee, Lord,
May I humbly live for Thee."
I know this is God's work and I am simply a tool in His hands. He is greater than all and His power is mightier than anything.
I'm excited for what the coming weeks will bring and the experiences I will have. I love you all, have an incredible week and see ya next Tuesday!!
Love,
Sister Francis
